چکیده

Spread-spectrum systems are used to transmit over frequency selective fading channels. The RAKE receiver is a well-established technique to exploit the multipath diversity. However, if the channel impulse response (CIR) is known a priori in the transmitter, the signal can be precoded to increase the SNR at the receiver while the transmit power remains constant. Because the channel can be assumed to be identical in the uplink and downlink in TDD systems the CIR is available in the transmitter. In this paper, different FIR filter precoding schemes for one antenna (Pre-RAKE, Preand Post-RAKE and Eigenprecoder) and multiple transmit antennas are compared, their decision variables are given in vector notation and the SNRs are presented analytically. The performance of the precoding schemes is evaluated numerically for codes with good autocorrelation behavior and for 3GPP TDD codes.

Performance comparison of FFH and MCFH spread-spectrum systems with optimum diversity combining in frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels

In this letter, the performance of frequency-hopping spread-spectrum systems employing noncoherent reception and transmission diversity is analyzed for frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. Two different types of transmission diversity systems, a fast frequency-hopping (FFH) system and a multicarrier frequency-hopping (MCFH) system, are investigated. In order to combine received signals...

The Doppler spread - gaining diversity for future mobile radio systems

In this paper the trade-off between time diversity and the inter-carrier interference (ICI) in an OFDM based MC-CDMA system is discussed. Our approach is to partially shift each spectrum of an OFDM symbol at the transmitter by using different phase shifts in the time domain at different antennas after the OFDM modulation. The summary signal at the receiver has a wider Doppler spectrum as the re...

A Precoder Design and Group Strategy for Frequency Flat Unknown Fading Channels

When perfect channel state information (CSI) is available at a receiver, the maximum Doppler diversity gains from frequency flat time selective (FFTS) fading channels can be achieved with a pair of judiciously designed precoding and grouping scheme. When CSI is not available at the receiver, modelling FFTS fading channels with basis expansion models (BEM) enables channel estimation without know...

Space-Time Codes for Frequency Selective Channels

Space-time coding for the flat fading, quasistatic MIMO wireless channel has received wide spread attention. While there has been some effort on code design for the frequency selective environments, the work has mostly been confined to multi-carrier modulation. This paper treats code design for a delay spread channel from a single carrier modulation perspective. We assume a coherent receiver an...

Transmitter-based Joint Nonlinear Multiuser Interference Cancellation and Multipath Diversity Combining for DS/CDMA Systems

 A nonlinear transmitter-based multiple access interference (MAI) cancellation technique, Tomlinson-Harashima transmitter precoding (THP), is proposed for Direct Sequence (DS) Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems with or without multipath fading. This zero forcing (ZF)-based transmitter precoding method minimizes the mean square error at the receiver. It is suitable for the downlink si...
